An injection-site log helps you remember where a previous dose was given. It cannot tell you which area, needle technique or spacing is appropriate for a particular medicine. Follow the teaching from your nurse and the instructions for your exact medication and device.
Use the leaflet for your exact medicine and device. For example, the manufacturer's GONAL-f pen leaflet and user manual are medicine-specific references, not instructions for all IVF injections.
Keep different injection instructions separate
Do not apply instructions for a subcutaneous pen to an intramuscular injection. Ask your nurse to show you the approved areas and explain what to do if an area is sore, bruised or otherwise unsuitable. A generic diagram or an app marker is not a substitute for that teaching.
What to record after a dose
- The medication and date/time as actually taken.
- The site using the same labels your clinic taught you.
- Any concern you want to describe to the clinic.
Before the next dose, consult that record alongside your clinic's instructions. If you are unsure where or how to inject, contact your clinical team rather than choosing a new area from a blog.
Using COVE
COVE keeps injection-site records alongside the medication schedule. It does not choose the site or validate injection technique. COVE is available on iPhone and Android. Features can differ by platform and version; check your store listing before subscribing.
